KITCHENER, Ont. Frank Gore Red Jersey . - Joel Vienneau stopped 35 of 37 shots to win his debut with the Kitchener Rangers as they beat the Guelph Storm 6-2 on Tuesday in Ontario Hockey League action. Vienneau arrived in Kitchener just hours before game time with teammates Frank Corrado and Josh Leivo, who were traded earlier in the day from the Sudbury Wolves to the Rangers for goalie Franky Palazzese, defenceman Cory Genovese and forward Matt Schmalz. Leivo, Brent Pedersen and Eric Ming had a goal and an assist each for the Rangers (22-13-5), who are winners of three of their last four games and moved into sole possession of fourth place in the Western Conference. Justin Bailey, Matia Marcantuoni and Ben Fanelli also scored for Kitchener, while Josh Sterk picked up three assists. Corrado earned a third-period assist for his first point with the Rangers. Jason Dickinson had a pair of goals for fifth-place Guelph (21-14-5), now losers of four straight. Guelphs Keegan Wilson turned aside 26 of 31 shots in 47:30 minutes of play, before being spelled by Jason DaSilva, who gave up one goal on 10 shots. Kitchener was scoreless in three power-play chances, while Guelph was blanked in seven opportunities with the man advantage. Guelph will lose Tanner Richard for at least one game after he received a match penalty in the second period for slew footing. The Rangers hit the board first in the opening period, with Bailey wristing a shot over Wilsons right shoulder from the slot. Pedersen increased the lead 6:02 into the second period, but Dickinson got that one back just over two minutes later, sliding a rebound past Vienneau. The Rangers went on a tear early in the third period, getting goals by Marcantuoni, Fanelli and Leivo in less than seven minutes to end Wilsons night. Ming then redirected Sterks pass by DaSilva on the first shot he faced after relieving Wilson, but Dickinson replied with his second of the game at 11:15. Ahmad Brooks Jersey .J. Second baseman Robert Andino was activated Tuesday to take Thomes place. He pinch-ran for Wilson Betemit in the top of the eighth inning against the New York Yankees, scored on Nick Markakis home run, then stayed in the game to play third base. Frank Gore Jersey . The Portuguese, however, almost let victory escape their grasp as Cristiano Ronaldo squandered two chances that could have put the result beyond doubt in another miserable international game. With sweltering temperatures easing the stiffness in his chronically bad back, the defending champion birdied the final three holes Friday for a 7-under 63 and the second-round lead at Fox Chapel.CINCINNATI, Ohio -- An unprecedented matchup of birthday-celebrating starters came down to the bullpens. Carlos Marmol got a little wild, lost a three-run lead and, perhaps, his job as well. The Cincinnati Reds scored three runs in the ninth off Marmol to tie it, and Scott Rolen hit a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning for a 4-3 victory and a split of their two-game series. The Reds needed a lot of help to pull it out, and got it. "It didnt look good there for a while," said Rolen, who got most of the day off but came in at third base to start the 10th. "After we came back to tie the game, the only thing left is to finish it." Marmol spoiled a big moment for Ryan Dempster, who returned from the disabled list and pitched eight shutout innings on his 35th birthday. He allowed only three hits and was in line to get his first win since Aug. 11. Dempster got the better of Homer Bailey, who turned 26th on Thursday. It was the first time in major league history that both starters were celebrating a birthday, according to information provided by the Reds, citing the Elias Sports Bureau. Both pitchers signed baseballs for the Hall of Fame. "Thats something neat," Dempster said. The Reds stood at the plate and watched Marmol self-destruct in the ninth. He walked Willie Harris and Joey Votto on nine pitches to open the inning. An error by Ian Stewart -- the third baseman rushed trying to turn a double play -- let in a run. Jay Bruce singled to load the bases, and Marmol walked Ryan Ludwick to force in a run that made it 3-2 and ended the closers outing. Rafael Dolis (1-2) relieved and got a double play that left it tied at 3. Marmol threw 18 pitches, only six of them strikes. "Sometimes hes throwing strikes, and then hes practically unhittable," Reds manager Dusty Baker said. "The key is to swing at strikes and make him throw balls. We dont have a whole lot of guys who hit him well." Marmol has blown three of his five save chances, walking 12 in 8 2-3 innings. Manager Dale Sveum said after the game that hell consider moving him out of the closers role. Andy Lee Jersey. "You have a game like that -- Im embarrassed right now," Marmol said. Another error helped the Reds win it. Zack Cozart singled in the 10th off Dolis, who then threw wildly to first base on Chris Heiseys sacrifice attempt. Rolen followed with his sacrifice fly to deep right field. Logan Ondrusek (2-0) pitched the 10th. The bad ninth inning spoiled Chicagos best power display of the season. Starlin Castro, Bryan LaHair and Geovany Soto hit homers off Bailey, who lasted six innings. LaHair has provided the bulk of the Cubs power this season, hitting seven of their 14 homers. Chicago hit only nine in April, fewest in the majors, but had five in the two games at Great American Ball Park -- all of them solo shots. Chicago now has homered in a season-high four consecutive games. Dempsters long winless streak -- now 13 games -- is partly due to a lack of support. Hed allowed only three earned runs in three starts this season before hurting his thigh, but the Cubs scored a total of four runs in those games. He lowered his ERA to 0.95 on with the eight shutout innings. It was the second year in a row that he pitched well on his birthday and failed to get a win. Last year, he allowed only one run over seven innings and got a no-decision in a 4-1 win over the Dodgers. The Cubs also activated reliever Kerry Wood off the disabled list before the game. Hed been sidelined with fatigue in his pitching shoulder. NOTES: LHP Paul Maholm will start Friday against LA. Hes 0-5 in eight career starts against the Dodgers with a 5.33 ERA. ... Johnny Cueto starts Cincinnatis series in Pittsburgh on Friday. Hes 10-3 career against the Pirates, including 6-1 in eight games at PNC Park. ... The Cubs optioned starter Randy Wells and reliever John Maine to Triple-A Iowa. ... LaHair has hit safely in his last nine games and reached base safely in 21 consecutive games. ...
