Full-page Ads: Good or Bad?

I'm considering adding full-page advertisements to Jason Miller Design so that I can free up more development time to bring this site into 2009 and write significantly more content. Full page ads can be really annoying if the display rate is set anywhere below once per 8 page views, yet in moderation they represent a much more effective use of space because the ads are modal. I am interested in hearing your thoughts on this, and whether you believe it would be worth it in order to get a lot more great stuff available here. The advertisements would be for relevant and interesting products.

In addition, I would be removing the in-text links.
Would this be a good idea?

Update:  I have already removed the full-page ads, as I find them extremely annoying and the content featured was of absolutely no relevance to this site. Enjoy your fill of non-ads :)
