Cause for Celebration

As stated on most internet sites to which I have registered, I am currently attending the University of Waterloo for Mechanical Engineering (co-op). I originally chose mechanical engineering because it seemed to be the closest discipline to mechatronics (robotics), after failing to get into that amazing program (the lowest accepted high school average was 94%, and I opted to have a life in high school). Over the first year of my post-secondary education it became strikingly obvious that I was not destined for a mechanical engineering degree, nor was I interested in it.

After first year came to a close, I started searching for options that would take me in another direction. I wanted to be thoroughly interested in my education, which seemed to require that I look into some type of computer-related discipline. After searching (with help from one Laura Sloboda), I narrowed the options down to three; Computer Science, Software Engineering and Computer Engineering. After being rejected by phone from the first two, I spoke to a university representative about transferring into computer engineering and established that it would be difficult, but possible. Yesterday, I recieved a phone call work explaining that my transfer into computer engineering has been approved.
