A Fresh New Look

Apr1309Apr 13, 09

I finally got down to updating this site, and I think it turned out alright. I don't think I could have made it look any worse than it did, so I think the new design is a good example of the colors and elements I choose when there are absolutely no barriers placed in the way of the final outcome. I chose to bring a number of different textures into the layout in order to bring out the contrast between the electronic media used and discussed here, and the physical look of the site (the wooden and painted areas).

Along with the new theme came a much needed update to the Content Management System that keeps things running smoothly. The system in place up until now was one of the first database applications I ever created, and it was beginning to show its age. I believe there is a saying about "a shoemaker's children" and the quality of their shoes, which was definitely the case before the update. It is great to finally have Shutterborg as the editor for this site, and it means I'll be able to publish more content each week to keep things nice and lively.

I would love to hear any comments you might have about the new look and layout, as constructive or destructive as you might want to be!

PS: Notice the new comfy chair up in the right corner. That's the secret to the good stuff, so you don't have to keep coming back here to check for new stuff.
